LIBRARY NEWS

February was a busy month in the library with so much to recognize.  It was fun and informative.

We also had author Eric Walters present to our grades 6,7 and 8 students.  It was a great day.  Mr. Walters shared many of his books, his expertise on the writing process and much more.  So many of our students have really become engaged with his books and he does write for a variety of  genres.

In March, we will have March Madness happening with some of our Forest of Reading books to determine which books are best.  (as rated by the students)  Scholastic Book Club flyers are available in paper here or online.  Please just put in our library code:  RC 154469  so that the library benefits from your order.  Orders are due by March 23rd.  Thank-you.

Happy Reading everyone!

Spring Fair: Save the Date!

Mark your calendars. Our Spring Fair will take place on Wednesday, June 10, 2026!

Planning will begin soon, and we are looking for parents / caregivers who would like to help with organizing, coordinating, and event-day support. If you’re interested in being involved, please fill out this short form Spring Fair Volunteers.

It truly takes a community to make these events special for our students, and we appreciate every bit of support.

Reminder: Eat Well to Excel

We’d also like to remind families about our Eat Well to Excel program which helps ensure all students have access to healthy food so they can focus, learn, and thrive at school.

If your family could benefit from additional support, please contact the school office directly. Requests are handled confidentially and with care.

Support may include:

- A slice of pizza on Pizza Days at no cost

- Food items sent home on Fridays

Please reach out to the office to discuss options that may help your family.

All Around Athletics Event

We are excited to offer an experience again this year for students and their families on Friday, April 17th at All Around Athletics.

This is an opportunity for parents/caregivers to engage in sport with their children – not just watching, no drop and go!  Bring your shorts, shoes, and water!

With an All Around Athletics coach, families will play different court sports while learning simple games/drills they can replicate at home in the driveway or backyard.

· Who: Mountain View students and parents/caregivers

· What: Learn games and drills with a coach

· Where: All Around Athletics (91 Sandford Fleming Drive, Unit 6)

· When: Friday, April 17th from 5:30pm to 7:30pm in 40-minute time slots. (5:30, 6:10, or 6:50)

Why: To promote active engagement between parents/caregivers and their children

A link to register for your preferred time slot through School Cash Online will be shared after March Break. Please note, there are limited spots due to capacity and coaching limits.

Parents/caregivers are expected to participate to the best of their ability with their children.

Snacks and drinks will be provided at the gym.

There is no cost to families for this activity thanks to the Parents’ Reaching Out Grant.

FOOD PROGRAM & HOT LUNCH INFORMATION

Our food program includes a Breakfast Cart, Snack Shack fridge, and classroom Snack Bins, supported by parent volunteers, teachers, and students. It is inclusive, non-judgmental, and available to every child. Families needing extra support can contact the school office confidentially—items can even be sent home on Fridays. We can also arrange for your child to receive a slice of pizza on Pizza Days at no cost. Again, please contact the office directly if you could benefit from this assistance.

We are grateful to Loblaws, Cobs Bakery, Eat Well to Excel, and our families for making this possible. Your generosity helps us create a caring school community where every child’s needs are met.

——————-

Orders for hot lunches must be placed by Sunday at noon to be processed for the following week.

Go to your child’s SchoolCash Online account items page and click “ORDER NOW”. If you need help please see the attached helpful links Creating an Account  and How to Order Guide

On days your student is unexpectedly absent please make arrangements with your teacher or the office to pick up food orders. Hot lunch orders will not be saved if the student is away, and arrangements have not been made to pick up on the order day. Orders may be cancelled two days prior to delivery by canceling the order in Lunchbox.

Hot Lunches will be cancelled on Inclement weather days. Families will receive an automatic refund through school cash online.

If a lunch order has not been received, please send an email within (5) days of the scheduled delivery (preferably within 24 hours) to [email protected] so that it can be investigated with the school and the vendor.
