Terry Fox Update
Dear Mountain View Families,
Our Terry Fox Run was a success in so many ways. Firstly, we surpassed our goal of $2500 for our school. A big thank-you to all those that were able to donate.
As well, we celebrated so many amazing character traits: honesty, integrity, perseverance, grit, compassion, empathy...to name a few. Our students have and continue to exhibit these great traits that Terry modelled during his life time. We had 3 lucky stu-dents win T-Shirts with the 'Finish It" logo on it the day of our run.
Lastly, the outstanding participation in our actual run outside was phenomenal. All students big, medium and small were out there running and honouring Terry's legacy and his Marathon of Hope. A shout out to our House Colour leaders who helped to organize and 'pump up' the event.
Thanks to all for a great event in honour of a great Canadian.

NOAKES READING NOOK
From the Library,
September passed quickly and students quickly got into our library routines. Primary/Junior students have weekly library visits while Intermediate students visit bi-weekly. Please check with your child (or their teacher) for their library days and try to return books on time.
We have an amazing Library Crew who help keep our library in order and also help with many of our younger classes. These stu-dents are from grades 6,7, and 8 and put a lot of time and effort into helping our library run efficiently. A special shout out to all of them!
Students will come home with Reading Club Flyers for October. If you are purchasing from these flyers please try do so by October 17th. All purchases support the library and/or your child's classroom.
I look forward to meeting many of you on October 2nd. The library will be open so please do drop in and check our space out.
So many books, so little time...Happy Reading everyone!
Mrs. Noakes

Music News from Mrs. Bain
Welcome back everyone! During the month of September students from all grade
levels reviewed music concepts from prior years in order to help set the stage for
future learning. Grade 4 through 8 students have received a course and student
responsibility outline and are encouraged to have the parental signatures completed and
return them to the school. Some classes have started their Google Classrooms and we
are beginning to post music content for students.
We are starting with a review of rhythm and note value notation during the first few
months using body percussion and unpitched percussion instruments. Pitched instruments
will be introduced in the following months for Junior/Intermediate students and we will
once again have our recorder program for students in grades 3-6. Students will be able
to purchase an appropriate quality recorder through the cash online system once we get
a quote from our supplier. We will have more information on that in the next few weeks.
Intermediate students will also have an opportunity to join the guitar club which will
have practices before school from 8:20 a.m. onward. Students will practice school
appropriate songs using basic guitar chords and techniques. Space is
limited, so students are encouraged to watch the announcements in the
next couple of weeks for exact dates and sign up procedures.
